The Soundclash Assembly

An in-depth look at the Jamaican SoundClash, which began in the 1950’s and spread throughout the world. Students dive into the inner workings of speakers, enclosures, and Bluetooth technology. The SoundClash assembly is a culturally responsive learning opportunity for students to explore the physics of a working speaker as well as the cultural heritage behind it all. They will experience what a SoundClash is and how economically deprived people came together to later influence Hip-Hop culture in Canada.

Students will gain valuable insights into the technology that drives the speakers they use in their daily lives.
